18 Mar HOTAS for DCS / MS Flight Simulator?
Where are all of the throttles? Where are the sticks? What happened to all of the HOTAS (Hands on Thottle and Stick)?
I was lucky to get into VR MilSims right as the coronavirus lockdowns started. I wanted a new hobby and got things setup, early. Unfortunately, I was only half-lucky and still need a throttle to help with the immersion. Being an actual pilot, I know what feels authentic and what feels like an arcade experience. The setup I have is half of each. What I’m dying to do is get my throttle replaced with either this (Warthog HOTAS Throttle), that (Vipril Throttle), or the other one (WinWing HOTAS Throttle). Now the only problem with finding any of these is that they’re in such high demand, they make PS5s and Xbox Series X’s feel like last year’s iPhone. They’re made from high-quality components, mostly by small teams of factory workers that also have hundreds of other projects to assemble, they’re made in countries that are highly regulated in tax, covid lockdowns and labor holidays and generally take a long time for them to be listed online / are already sold out to bots and resellers that will boost the price of the product or add hundreds of dollars to the shipping price. WTF!
Anyways, I’ll show you why it may be worth the hype of hunting for a high-quality HOTAS or other flight components. Check out some of these DCS Clips that I’ve had fun with in VR using the Oculus Quest / Quest Link on my RoG G14 gaming laptop (If you need help with setting up VR on an AMD Ryzen and Nvidia GPU laptop, watch this video that I made)

You can watch more on my YouTube, where I generally update it with gaming content on a weekly or sooner basis. I’d appreciate a sub or thumbs up on any of the videos you enjoy. Thank you, in advance.
Here’s my current setup for controlling these jets in VR:
Throttle: Logitech G X52 Flight Control System (I’ve had this, since starting high school)
Stick: Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS Base + Thrustmaster F/A 18 Grip Add On (Windows)
Mount for Desk: J-PEIN (Upgraded): the desk mount for the flight sim game joystick, throttle and hotas systems.
Rudder Pedals / Brakes: Logitech G Pro Flight Rudder Pedals
MFD controllers: Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack (Windows)
Accessory Keys that aren’t found on HOTAS: Razer Tartarus v2 Gaming Keypad (also helps with Slewing targets, until I get a better throttle)
Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow w/ 10Key
Mouse: Razer DeathAdder Elite
HeadSet: Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero
Obviously, you can do more than DCS, with these devices. Check out these videos:

If you feel like investing in VR flight sims and can’t wait for prices to go down, by all means, look into what I’ve posted above. Spend those Biden bucks! Lol. If you don’t want to splurge, get creative with the less expensive Hotas options and pick what you like best about each (like me) to get the job done.
